Improved Reflection Cards
Improved Reflection Cards
Developed with the collaboration of Erasmus+ Youth National Agencies, practitioners, and experts, the Reflection Cards help to understand the Democracy Reloading Reference Framework and provide playful approaches to systematically reflect on the most important quality aspects of youth participation in municipal decision-making.. It aligns with the European Youth Strategy 2019–27, which highlights the importance of engaging young people in policies that impact their lives (in principle all policy fields), recognising their right to participate and self-organize.
The 2024 version of Reflection Cards developed within the Democracy Reloading project features a new design and instead of statements the cards provide questions to youth policy practitioners to actively reflect on the existing or planned practices of youth participation in municipal decision-making.
The Reflection Cards deck offers youth officers an innovative tool to enhance youth participation in civic life, immersing young people in decision-making processes. As the title states, ‘For municipal youth policy officers to implement youth participation in municipal decisions,’ the Reflection Cards are designed as an exercise to train youth officers engage young people in understanding and practising civic actions.
As the Cards fully mirror the Democracy Reloading Reference Framework it helps to understand the three main elements of competences, such as knowledge, skills and attitude (with values). The Cards are produced for the Democracy Reloading training courses, both for European and national activities. The Cards are given to participants of these training activities, and the Cards are also the basic reference tool of these training activities. From December 2024 the Cards can also be downloaded (and printed) from here: https://democracy-reloading.eu/
The Reflection Cards are in English and French but we are open to new language versions too. If you are interested in translating and publishing the Cards in your national language please write to us to this email address: democracyreloading@gmail.com
