Jonge Wegweters (Young Trailblazers) is a toolbox specially developed for cities and towns to involve young people between 16 and 21 in local mobility policy. It maps the mobility behaviour and experience of young people in cities, municipalities, or regions. Using a step-by-step plan and the participatory methods of Jonge Wegweters, the tool works together on specific and supported recommendations that are then presented to the city council. After of 3 years of experience and 7 trajectories in Flanders, we are delighted to present the most important outcomes on what youngsters find important in mobility policy. Jonge Wegweters approaches mobility policy as a broad topic, and its recommendations therefore go beyond infrastructure. With clear communication towards youngsters about mobility and involving young people in your mobility policy, a lot can be solved. By using Jonge Wegweters policy makers learn capabilities to involve young people in mobility policy in the future. And gain insight into what young people consider important in terms of mobility.
